Our Core Beliefs

THE SCRIPTURES The Bible is the inspired Word of God.  The new covenant, as recorded in the New Testament is what we accept as our infallible guide in matters all pertaining to conduct and doctrine. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 | 2 Timothy 3:15-17 | 2 Peter 1:21
THE GODHEAD Our God is one but is manifested in three persons, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, all being co-equal. 1 John 5:7 | John 1:14 | John 14:28
SANCTIFICATION We believe in the doctrine of sanctification as a definite yet progressive work of grace, commencing at the time of regeneration and continuing until the consummation of salvation.   1 Thessalonians 5:23 | 2 Peter 3:18 | 2 Corinthians 3:18 In justification, the guilt of sin is removed; in regeneration, the love of sin is removed; in sanctification, the inclination to practice sin is removed.
THE GIFT OF THE HOLY SPIRIT Every true believer is heir to the Holy Ghost, We believe that He is the gift of God through Christ Jesus to the children of God, sanctifying, quickening, guiding into all truth, and giving power to obey and witness God’s word. Galatians 4:6-7 | John 14:16-26 | Acts 1:8 When you receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, you will speak in other tongues. Acts 2:4 | Acts 10:46 | Acts 19:6 We believe that the Holy Ghost baptized the church, Jews on the day of Pentecost (Acts 1:4, 5), Gentiles, at the house of Cornelius (Acts 11:13-18). His indwelling also is referred to as a gift (Acts 2:38, 39), a receiving (Acts 19:1, 2), a filling (Ephesians 5:18), and an anointing (I John 2:27; I Corinthians 1:21, 22). We believe that the spirit-filled life produces the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:23), however, the greatest fruit is love (I Corinthians 13:13).
MAN:  HIS FALL AND REDEMPTION Man is a created being, made in the likeness and the image of God.  But through Adam's transgression and fall, sin came into the world.  Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was manifested to undo the work of the devil and to give His life and shed His blood to redeem and restore man back to God. 1 John 3:8 | Romans 3:23 | Romans 3:10
ATONEMENT The atonement made by Jesus Christ through the shedding of His blood for the remission of sins is for all humanity. Anyone who repents and believes on the Lord Jesus Christ is justified  and regenerated and saved from the dominion of sin. Romans 3:22-26|Romans 5:9| Hebrews 2:9| Hebrews 9:13-14, 22
BAPTISM Baptism is an ordinance in the church as commanded by the Lord. It is for those who follow the gospel of Jesus Christ and is administered through immersion, according to biblical teachings. Matthew 28:19-20 | Mark 16:14-16 | Acts 8:36-39 | Romans 6:1
THE LORD’S SUPPER The Lord's Supper is an ordinance in the New Testament, established when Jesus celebrated His last Passover with His disciples. Matthew 26:26-29 | Mark 14:22-25 | Luke 2 19-20 | 1 Corinthians 11:23-34
FOOT WASHING Foot washing is an act of obedience in following the example of humility given by our Lord Jesus Christ. John 13:1-18
DIVINE HEALING Healing according to scripture. Isaiah 53:4-5 | 1 Corinthians 12:9 | James 5:14 | Mark 16:17-18 | Matthew 18:19 | Mark 11:24
RESURRECTION OF THE JUST AND THE RETURN OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOUR His coming is imminent. Acts 1:11 | 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17 Following the tribulation, He shall return to the earth as King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Then together with His saints, who shall be kings and priests, He shall reign for a thousand years. Revelation 19:20
SALVATION OF MAN We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human efforts. Ephesians 2:8-9 | Galatians 2:16, 3:8 | Titus 3:5 | Romans 10:9-10 | Acts 16:31 | Hebrews 9:22-27 The new birth is necessary to all men and when fulfilled, it produces eternal life. John 3:3-5 | 2 Corinthians 7:10
JUSTIFICATION Justification is a judicial act by God for all humanity, granting complete forgiveness to those who repent, believe in Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior, absolving them from the guilt of sin.Acts 10:43| Romans 3:24-27|Romans 5:1| Romans 2:16-18
HELL, AND ETERNAL RETRIBUTION The one who physically dies in his sins without Christ is hopelessly and eternally lost in the Lake of Fire and therefore has no further opportunity of hearing the Gospel or repenting. The Lake of Fire is literal. Hebrews 9:27 | Revelation 19:20
HEAVEN Heaven is the eternal dwelling place for all believers in the Gospel of Jesus Christ as promised by God. Hebrews 9:24 | Matthew 3:2 | Colossians 1:5 | 2 Corinthians 5:1
THGC Key Messages
